Fiji (Part 3)

A couple of hours later we arrived at our final resort, Nabua Lodge. Again we arrived at low tide so had another paddle in the shallows trying not to think about poisonous sea critters.

We both swapped our finished books for new ones and spent a little while reading...in hammocks... (notice a theme yet?) before chatting to our Bure neighbours who were from Northern Ireland. We'd heard rumour of a Tea House nearby so went for a wander along the beach where we found a little hut serving freshly baked cake and tea, here we found Hannah who we first met a Naqalia Lodge and had travelled with since, we stayed a while chatting over our yummy cake.

Once dinner was over we spent some time with other guests chatting and playing games (Pass the Pigs!)

The morning came and we prepared for our next outing, a trip to Sawa-I-Lau caves, a rare geological feature due to the limestone makeup of a particular island. The ride there took 45 minutes, once there we entered the first cave which was partially open to the sky, the water was cool, clear and deep. Mike entered the second cave with a small group which was accessed through an underwater tunnel, the second chamber was almost pitch black with only a few points of light through narrow gaps to the outside world.

We sunbathed on the small beach to dry off before getting the small boat back to our resort. After a quick lunch we were straight back onto a small boat to head to the Blue Lagoon for some more snorkeling, it was low tide so a lot of the good coral was not accessible but there was a crazy amount of fish in the water, mostly the common Scissortail Sergeant.

We got back to the resort with time for cake at the Tea House again, very important! After dinner we dodged games and headed for an early night after a busy day.

The next day we had no activities arranged, Mike went coral hopping with a small group whilst Amy continued the tried and tested combination of hammock & book.

The next day was our final at the resort and on the Yasawa Islands, we checked out early, read more books, lay in more hammocks before catching the ferry for the 4 hour journey back to the mainland. We really didn't want to leave but it was made slightly easier by the fact it was the first grey and overcast day the whole time we had been in Fiji.

We arrived at our hotel, ate dinner and headed straight to bed, we had to be at the airport for 7am.

After a quick breakfast we checked out and made for the airport, next stop New Zealand!
