Canada, first impressions

We made it!

 Its 23:20 UK time but 18:20 here - we had breakfast, then brunch at the airport, then lunch on the plane, then a plane snack and now we have no idea what meal we are on - just that we are hungry!

 Canada is super sunny today, highs of 26C here in Toronto - no leaves on the trees yet though so it look's a bit like southern Spain!

 Didn't get passports stamped as it's all automated thingies now but did somehow manage to get a free bus ride - the driver couldn't give us change and so decided to not bother charging us at all, what a loveley man!

 We took the bus straight to a train station, jumped on a waiting subway train then 23 stops later we are at the hostel - it has a coffee bar and a regular bar and we hope some food for supper!! Below is a photo from it at night (we didn't take it)

P.S. American trucks are HUGE and the bus stop was underneath a MONORAIL!

We've done so much since the last post, this will be a big one, you might want to make a brew! We arrived at our accommodation at 0130 and had been travelling in the dark (and through thick fog) for hours. When we woke in the morning the first thing we did was open the blinds to check the view, we were not disappointed! First up was a visit to the local grocery store to gather supplies, we found a sub that could have fed us for the week After shopping we headed over to Banff to explore the town a little, the weather really turned against us so we did some soggy sightseeing of Bow Falls and a wet walk around Fenlands during which we saw a beaver (and didn't get eaten by bears!) Fiji (Part 2)

Our ride to Naqalia Lodge was a bumpy one, once we arrived we were given a wonderfully warm welcome by the family who run the resort. After introductions we were shown to our Bure which was only feet from the beautiful sandy beach and lapping waves, as good as the previous island was this felt like paradise!  After some lounging around in hammocks we ate lunch and then indulged our creative sides, Amy made a bracelet from shells and Mike wove a bookmark from palm leaves. Once our masterpieces were complete Mike took advantage of the free snorkeling trip to some nearby reefs whilst Amy returned to the hammock and her book. Later that evening after dinner we were invited to join some of the family for kava as they wished to formally welcome us to their home with a ceremony and songs, once the ceremony was over we relaxed, drank more kava and played some really fun games late into the night. Japan - Part 1

Japan was quite possibly our most anticipated country we were not going to stop a small thing such as no sleep stop us from enjoying every second. Thanks to the fantastic public transport infrastructure we were able to catch a train from the airport into central Osaka where it was a short stroll to our hotel. Bags checked in we headed out for an explore and some shopping. On our way to the hotel we had passed through a shopping arcade, we headed there first to do some souvenir hunting. One of the first shops we stumbled upon was selling only one thing, costumes for cats, so many costumes!  We browsed the arcade, admiring colourful chopsticks, tiny spoons and huge collections of Japanese chef knifes.  We made our way to Dōtonbori, the main shopping and eating street in Osaka.
